THE MACROBIOTIC LIFESTYLE AN ASPECT OF THE LATEST PALEO DIET CRAZE

By:  Kendall Monroe

To begin your macrobiotic lifestyle, balance is the key, along with the knowledge that the macrobiotic lifestyle an aspect of the latest paleo diet craze.

If you haven’t read my previous article regarding macrobiotic and the attitude and the science, it’s okay.  All you really need to know is that macrobiotic stems from the most basic of ideals, macro meaning the big picture and biotic meaning life.

It’s that simple, the big picture of life.

Now, the big picture begins with you.  You as an individual.  You as whole body.  In order to keep you thinking clearly and your body behaving as one unit, you must feed your soul and feed your blood.

Let’s do that; feed our bodies first, then with the proper nutrition, we may feed ourselves, mind and soul.

Now that you are ready to begin your macrobiotic lifestyle an aspect of the latest paleo diet craze, let’s begin with a light exercise and your introduction to new foods.  Let’s do it gradually, because macrobiotics is a lifestyle and you want to continue this healthy path and teach those around you, too.

Begin with a light exercise, get out the Wii fit and do any one exercise.  Or stand in place and walk in place for 20 minutes, and breath in and out.

Stretching is also great, and the morning is great time to stretch if all you have time for is, well, nothing but a stretch.  So, while you are in the shower, raise your arms up to the sun, then bow down to the Earth, then bend your knees and stretch your arms out in front, then rise.  Do this slowly a few times while rinsing.

NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH ENERGY AND FOOD

After your invigorating blood flow, you’ll need to nourish your body with energy, food.  It’s important what you put into your body, and everything must be ingested with moderation and balance.

For your introduction to food, instead of the white-flour pasta, buy the whole-grain pasta, and instead of your usual cheetos snack, have an apple with a piece of soft cheese.  And for goodness sake, don’t buy any more soda…buy pear, pomegranate, or apple cider instead; if that’s too drastic of a beginning, buy a packet of kool aid and only add ¾ cp raw sugar and before you know it, you won’t miss any type of soda of sweetened drink and even the kids will be drinking green tea.

Our first true dish together, will be a dinner dish, one for the whole family.

The menu will be:

Some prefer to have their salad ½ hour before their main meal; some prefer after the main meal and then dessert ½-1 hour after the meal.  The most important aspect of food to remember, besides, what it is doing to your body is how is your body digesting it.  If you eat too much, your body cannot process; such is the case with the people who eat at a fast food restaurant, the carbohydrates, the processed meats, the soda with the sugar and sodium, and the fries with the heavy concentration of fats.  When you break it down that way, it certainly doesn’t sound appetizing, but when you’re of that mindset that it just tastes good and that you’re hungry, well you and your body, mind and blood will eventually have a price to pay.

So, be certain to give your body time to digest the great foods you’ve chosen, and let each stage of your meal be calculated, both in intake and in nutrition.

Once you’ve decided in which order, your family will simply go along with it.  It’s up to the nutritionist of the family to decide what and when and its up to the family to come and get it!

Let’s begin!
